Water

Water is a series containing images taken from Deep Creek California. The images were taken in black and white film, and developed with the same water from the location and depicted numerous times to show different aspects of the water. Aberrations in the film caused by chemicals in the waters add to the distortion of the image. The images of the Mojave River are presented in three separate ways, individual photographs, collaged grids, and cyanotypes. The individual photographs are small, framed and symbolizes the scarcity of the water within the landscape. Grids are a visual reminder of the ongoing expansion of pollutants that are continuously being exposed to the water. The collaged linear grid, Deep Creek Grid-1, 2019. Inkjet Scanned Print, 3x4 inches, shows the causes of the pollutants in the water on the landscape and the individuals within it through its distorted imagery. The creation of the cyanotypes are a representation of the water that has reclaimed its purity by filtering color back into the image through the cyanotype process.
